MSU Sign

2024 Candidates for MSU Board of Trustees are:
Rebecca Bahar-Cook (D)

Thomas Stallworth (D)

Mike Balow (R)

Julie Maday (R)

Two candidates will be elected to the eight person Michigan State Univesity Board of Trustees in November, 2024, for an eight year term.
Who will gain your vote?

The Nassar scandal and related events have been the number one issue at MSU for many years.

All of the legacy MSU trustees will be gone at the end of this year because of the Nassar scandal.  Some legacy trustees unsuccessfully ran for re-election.  I never voted for or supported any of the legacy candidates because they did not bring closure to the Nassar scandal.

My top priority is to bring closure to the Nassar scandal at MSU by firing Nassar enablers who still work at MSU, and seeing the 6,000 documents that were released to the Michigan AG in 2024, but not to the public.

I will vote for any candidate who advocates for  firing the remaining Nassar enablers.  I would like the above candidates to comment on how they will bring closure to the Nassar scandal.  Equally important is how they will improve the culture concerning sexual abuse and assault at MSU moving forward.

Legacy trustee Dan Kelly,
the only Republican on the MSU Board, did not get nominated to run this year.    I am a member of the Rochester Area Democratic Club.  I will vote for Mike Balow, a Republican, for MSU Trustee in November.  Mr. Balow wants a full independent investigation of the Nassar scandal now that all of the 6,000 documents have been released.

I am not happy with the current MSU Board of Trustees because they voted at a special board meeting on March 3, 2024, to have Governor Whitmer remove trustees Denno and Vassar from the MSU Board due to ethical violations.  The same board has allowed unethical MSU attorney Kristine Moore who investigated and exonerated Nassar in 2014 to be promoted and continue to work at MSU.

At the top of this page I have listed the four candidates from the two major parties and links to their web sites or Facebook page if I could not find a web site.  I will try to link the two candidates with Facebook pages to web sites if I obtain them, so check back.  I like to read web sites that have some substance.

I hope to make more comments about the candidates in the future if there is more information about the candidates.  The election process is just beginning.
